About
The artist
Formed in Tsawwassen and Vancouver, British Columbia in 1981 by frontman Neil Osborne and bassist Brad Merritt, 54-40 are true architects of Canadian alternative rock. Evolving from brooding post-punk roots into master craftsmen of jangly, hook-laden melodic rock, the band became a cornerstone of Canadian radio in the 1980s and 1990s with multi-Platinum albums Dear Dear (1992) and Smilin' Buddha Cabaret (1994). Their song I Go Blind found massive worldwide exposure when covered by Hootie & the Blowfish, while classics like Ocean Pearl, One Day in Your Life, and Baby Ran remain quintessential Canadian standards. Inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2017, 54-40 remain an active touring and recording powerhouse.
