The artist
Absolutely Free is an experimental pop trio formed in Toronto in 2012 by musicians from the art-punk band DD/MM/YYYY. The group blends analog electronics, psychedelia, Krautrock, art rock, and polyrhythmic ideas in long-form pop arrangements. Its self-titled 2014 debut was longlisted for the 2015 Polaris Music Prize, followed by the soundtrack Two Cares Due None, the 2021 album Aftertouch, and the 2022 remix collection How to Repaint Clouds. Absolutely Free remained active onstage in Toronto in 2026.
