About

The artist

Airat Ichmouratov is a Montreal-based Canadian composer, conductor, and clarinetist who immigrated to Canada in 2000. He founded the Muczynski Trio and joined the klezmer ensemble Kleztory, performing internationally while developing a concert-music catalog that spans opera, symphonies, concertos, chamber works, and orchestral overtures. His scores bring neo-romantic language together with klezmer, Quebec, Tatar, Slavic, and other cultural influences. Recent activity includes three recordings released in 2025 and performances and premieres scheduled through 2026. Ichmouratov received Quebec's Charles Biddle Award in 2020 for his contribution to the province's cultural life.
