About
The artist
Alaskan Tapes is the ambient music project of Toronto composer Brady Kendall. After beginning as a drummer and experimenting with liquid drum and bass, Kendall moved toward minimal, elongated sound and adopted the Alaskan Tapes name for the full scope of his work. The project blends ambient electronics, neoclassical composition, post-rock, drone, piano, guitar, strings, trumpet, samples, and granular synthesis. Since its first EP and album in 2016, Alaskan Tapes has developed a large catalogue that also includes film scores and soundtrack work. Recent releases include Something Ephemeral in 2024, Songs From My Living Room in 2025, and Blank Slate, Open Space in 2026. The latter was released through Kendall's own label, We All Speak In Poems, and continues the project's collaborative, detail-focused approach.
