About

The artist

Amanda Keesmaat is a Montréal-based Canadian cellist specializing in baroque and early music. Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, she earned a Bachelor of Music at Western University and an Artist Diploma at McGill University before becoming a central participant in Montréal's period-instrument community. She serves as principal cellist of Arion Baroque Orchestra and performs with the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal, Clavecin en Concert, La Nef, Constantinople, and other ensembles. Keesmaat co-founded Skye Consort, directs Space Time Continuo, and works as a continuo player and specialist of the basse de violon. Her discography spans recordings for ATMA, Analekta, Naxos, and other labels, including projects recognized at the Juno Awards. Current credits include the 2025 album Zaytoun and a 2025 single arranged for voice, archlute, cello, and harpsichord.
