About

The artist

Amy Millan is a Montréal-based singer-songwriter and guitarist known as a co-founder of Stars, a member of Broken Social Scene, and a solo artist. Raised in Toronto, she developed early musical ties with Kevin Drew and Emily Haines before studying at Concordia University and becoming part of Montréal's independent music community. Her first solo album, Honey from the Tombs, arrived in 2006, followed by Masters of the Burial in 2009. After more than 15 years between solo albums, Millan returned with I Went To Find You in 2025. Co-written and produced with Jay McCarrol, the record turns toward childhood loss, friendship, ageing, and the possibility of future creative connection, with Evan Cranley and other longtime collaborators contributing. The album was recorded at Lost River in the Laurentians and released by Last Gang Records, followed by a Redux edition. In 2026 Millan and Martha Wainwright released Calling All Angels. Her official Bandcamp and current Spotify biography both explicitly identify her as Montréal-based, resolving the exact profile's Canadian province and city.
