About

The artist

Aocelyn is the stage name of Jocelyn Arreak, an Inuk singer, rapper, songwriter, and pianist based in Pond Inlet, Nunavut. Her first professional recording appearance came through the Nunavut-wide Ajungi collective in 2018, followed by the 2019 video for Adventure Awaits. Aocelyn's songs focus on hope, self-esteem, support for people who feel excluded, perseverance, and reducing stigma around mental health. Hitmakerz released her debut album Lovely in 2021, with the single I Wish I Was a King introducing the project. Her Inuktut song Kajjaarijakka placed seventh in Nunavut's 2022 Qilaut songwriting contest, and Lovely and I Wish I Was a King received multiple nominations at the 2023 Arctic Music Awards. In 2026, Aocelyn independently released the nine-song album Don't Care and continued developing further recordings while seeking more live performance opportunities.
