About
The artist
Ashley Jane is a Toronto songwriter, vocalist, and former documentary producer whose music centres on storytelling. She developed her writing through the folk duo In the City with Timon Wientzek. The pair became the first songwriting duo admitted to the Slaight Family Music Residency at the Canadian Film Centre, and songs from their early releases found placements in Canadian television series and independent films. Jane later built a screen-composition practice with collaborators including Stephen Krecklo. How Lucky Am I, written for the film Press Play, earned a Canadian Screen Music Award nomination for Best Original Song. I Won't Break, created with Kamel Bushnaq and Suad Bushnaq for Queen Tut, received a Canadian Screen Award nomination in 2024. Her official biography reports music placements in more than 50 film and television productions and millions of streams. Jane began a solo release series with Never Been More in Love and How Lucky Am I in 2022, followed by Heatwave in December in 2023. She is currently developing her debut solo full-length album.
