About

The artist

Bells Larsen is a Toronto-born, Montréal-based singer-songwriter whose music combines acoustic folk, lo-fi indie arrangements, multilingual writing, and close attention to memory and change. His debut album, Good Grief, arrived in 2022 after taking shape during an artist residency in Banff. The record approached the death of a first love as both a personal loss and a shared exercise in empathy. Larsen followed it with the 2023 EP If I Was, I Am and a 2024 interpretation of Rostam's Bike Dream. Blurring Time, released by Royal Mountain Records in April 2025, was built across several years. Larsen recorded part of the project before beginning testosterone, waited as his voice changed, and then arranged new performances that let his earlier and present voices sing together. Georgia Harmer developed vocal harmonies, while Graham Ereaux produced and engineered the album. The songs move through sibling relationships, queer community, self-recognition, and the idea that identity is always arriving. Blurring Time was longlisted for the 2025 Polaris Music Prize and spent five weeks at number one on Canada's campus radio chart. A deluxe edition followed in November 2025. Current profiles from Spotify, PHI, and Montréal reporting all identify Larsen as based in Montréal, where he continues to record and perform.
