About
The artist
Belvedere is a Calgary skate-punk band founded in 1995 by singer and guitarist Steve Rawles. The group began as a trio and quickly developed a reputation for fast, technical playing, melodic vocals, and tightly structured songs. Because No One Stopped Us arrived in 1998, followed by Angels Live in My Town in 2000, 'Twas Hell Said Former Child in 2001, and Fast Forward Eats the Tape in 2004. Belvedere toured extensively in North America and Europe and shared bills with bands including Bad Religion and Strung Out before ending its first run in 2005. The group returned in 2011 and resumed international touring. Revenge of the Fifth followed in 2016, and the pandemic-era writing period produced Hindsight Is the Sixth Sense in 2021. The current lineup pairs Rawles with drummer Casey Lewis, guitarist Dan Wollach, and bassist Ryan Mumby. Seven Years of Bad Luck, the band's seventh full-length album, was released by Thousand Islands Records in June 2026. Its eleven songs continue Belvedere's mix of rapid tempos, technical guitar work, melodic hooks, and socially conscious lyrics. Current Spotify and label profiles identify the group with Calgary, while 2026 touring includes Canadian dates with Strung Out and a return to European festivals. The album and tour schedule confirm an active Calgary-based band more than three decades after its formation.
