Big Dave McLean is a Winnipeg blues singer, guitarist, and harmonicist whose career stretches back to 1969. Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and raised in Winnipeg from age ten, he developed a lifelong devotion to Delta and Chicago blues after an early encounter with John Hammond Jr. McLean became a fixture of Canadian clubs and festivals, releasing his debut Muddy Waters for President in 1989 and building a catalog that includes For the Blues…Always, Blues from the Middle, Faded But Not Gone, Pocket Full of Nothin', and This Old Life. His work has earned Western Canadian and national blues honours, and he was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada for preserving, rejuvenating, and mentoring within the blues tradition.
