The artist

Blinker the Star is the long-running recording project of Pembroke, Ontario multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Jordon Zadorozny. It began as a one-person studio project in the early 1990s before expanding into a touring band. The self-titled album appeared in 1993, followed by major-label releases including A Bourgeois Kitten and August Everywhere. Zadorozny moved to Los Angeles in the late 1990s, contributed to songwriting sessions for Hole's Celebrity Skin, and developed a wider production career while continuing Blinker the Star. After Still in Rome in 2003, he focused on studio collaborations and production before reviving the project as a solo recording unit with We Draw Lines in 2012. A sustained sequence of independent albums followed, including 8 of Hearts, Careful With Your Magic, Juvenile Universe, Arista, Love Oblast, Animal Math, and Occult Classic. Zadorozny writes, performs, records, and mixes most of the material at Skylark Park Studio, occasionally adding guest performances. Occult Classic arrived in November 2024, and the later single Party's over Captain continued the project's output. Current official Bandcamp and Spotify profiles identify Blinker the Star with Pembroke and describe more new music in development. The catalog balances compact power-pop hooks, unusual harmony, layered guitars and keyboards, and the exploratory freedom of a private studio practice.
