About

The artist

Bluejay Friese is the current musical identity of singer-songwriter and actor Ajay Parikh-Friese. Raised on Vancouver Island and based between Victoria, British Columbia and Prescott, Arizona, he writes folk-country and indie-folk songs centred on travel, memory, relationships, and place. Earlier recordings appeared under the name Ajay Friese before he introduced the Bluejay name for a new run of singles and his debut album Postcards in March 2026. He followed the album with Marigold for the series American Classic and continued performing in both Victoria and the United States. Bluejay was The Zone at 91-3's February 2026 Band of the Month, is a three-time CBC Searchlight Top 100 finalist, and has twice won Vancouver Island Music Awards.
