About
The artist
Bobby Dove is a country and Americana singer and songwriter born in Montreal and currently based in rural Manitoba's Interlake region. They developed their voice in Montreal's traditional country community, including the Wheel Club's long-running hillbilly nights, and learned from steel guitarist and broadcaster Bobby Hill. Dove's songwriting draws on classic honky-tonk, country ballads, folk storytelling, and emotionally direct contemporary Americana. Their first full-length recording, Thunderchild, appeared in 2016. Hopeless Romantic followed in 2021, co-produced with Bazil Donovan of Blue Rodeo and Tim Vesely of Rheostatics, and reached Canadian roots and United States alt-country radio charts. Dove has toured widely across Canada and Europe and performed at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Dauphin's Countryfest, and the National Arts Centre. Fortune Teller, released in April 2026, was produced by Aaron Goldstein and includes a duet and co-write with Jim Lauderdale. The official project biography identifies Dove as trans and non-binary and uses they and their pronouns. Their 2026 schedule includes an eastern album-release run, a western Canadian summer tour, Toronto Folk Festival, and United Kingdom dates.
