The artist
Brasstactics is an Edmonton brass party band formed in 2019. The ten-member ensemble uses trumpets, saxophones, trombone, sousaphone, and percussion to move between horn-driven originals and reworked popular songs. Its 2024 album Tribute to the Groove collects seven originals that draw on funk, jazz, hip-hop, and dance music, and reached number one on CKUA's radio chart. The group was nominated for Instrumental Artist of the Year at the 2025 Western Canadian Music Awards and remains active on Alberta festival and venue stages in 2026.
