About

The artist

Bria Salmena is a Toronto-based singer, songwriter, musician, and producer whose solo work joins alternative rock, post-punk, darkwave, shoegaze, and country. She first became widely known as the frontwoman of the Toronto band FRIGS and later toured as a vocalist and musician with Orville Peck. Salmena launched her solo catalog with Cuntry Covers Vol. 1 in 2021 and a second covers EP in 2023, reframing country songs through reverb-heavy dream pop and gothic atmosphere. Her first original solo single, Bending Over Backwards, arrived in 2024. Big Dog, released by Sub Pop and Royal Mountain Records in March 2025, marked her full-length solo debut. Salmena wrote the album with longtime collaborator Duncan Hay Jennings and co-produced it with Jennings, Meg Remy, and Graham Walsh. Recorded in Toronto, the album places her vocals and personal writing inside a layered mix of punk tension, electronic texture, coldwave, and expansive rock. Lee Ranaldo contributes guitar to See'er. Salmena's official site identifies Toronto, Ontario as her location and lists current music, video, contact, and touring pages, including UK and Ireland dates supporting Wolf Alice. Her current solo practice extends relationships built through FRIGS and Orville Peck into a distinct project centred on transformation, resilience, and collaboration.
