About

The artist

Caroline Nadeau is a Montréal jazz singer, arranger, composer, backing vocalist, and teacher with more than three decades in music. Classically trained as a flutist, she holds degrees in music education and jazz voice as well as a master's degree in jazz performance from Université Laval. Nadeau formed the Caroline Nadeau Jazz Band in the late 1990s and released Autour de minuit in 2002, followed by Si Fragile, Chansons pour durer toujours, and Forever Lasting Canadian Songs. The latter project reworks songs associated with Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, and other Canadian writers through vocal jazz arrangements. Si Fragile and Chansons pour durer toujours each received an ADISQ nomination for Jazz Interpretation Album of the Year. Nadeau also performs with the vocal jazz ensemble Bémol 9, whose catalogue includes six albums through Hiatus in 2024. Her performance history includes the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, Canadian jazz festivals, concerts in Germany, and an Ella Fitzgerald tribute with the Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil. Alongside recording and performance, she has taught jazz and popular voice for more than twenty-five years and is currently a professor at the Cégep régional de Lanaudière in Joliette. Her current official biography and Women in Music Canada profile consistently support an active Montréal, Quebec base.
