About

The artist

Catherine Durand is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer based in Montréal, Quebec. After studying communications at UQAM, she entered the music industry in 1997 and released her self-titled debut the following year. Her catalogue grew through Flou, Diaporama, Coeurs migratoires, Les murs blancs du Nord, La pluie entre nous, Vingt, and additional recordings that established a patient, atmospheric approach to French-language folk. Durand has produced her own work since 2004 and operates KatMusik, making artist ownership and independent production central to her practice. Her albums and songs have received ADISQ, Canadian Folk Music Award, and SOCAN recognition, including the 2010 singer-songwriter prize at Pully-Québec. In 2023 she formed the duo Hauterive with Mara Tremblay. Their self-titled album joins the two artists' voices, guitars, and multi-instrumental arrangements in original French songs and selected interpretations. Hauterive continued to perform across Quebec during the 2025-2026 season. Durand's official site, current professional profile, and Apple Music artist page consistently identify Montréal and document a career of eight solo albums alongside her active duo work.
