About

The artist

Chik White is the experimental moniker of Chezzetcook-based improviser, performance artist and field recordist Darcy Spidle. First adopted in Halifax’s punk scene in 2004, the name later became the home for a minimalist and freeform practice built around jaw harp, voice, nose flutes, horns, harmonica, guitar and environmental sound. Spidle’s artist-controlled pages document a move to Chezzetcook on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore and an extensive international catalog. Current releases include clowning the town, face across the door and raw vocal recordings from europe 2026, alongside collaborations with Bill Nace, Chad VanGaalen and Naomi McCarroll-Butler. MusicList uses a rights-clean monogram instead of unlicensed photography.
