About

The artist

Crimson Shadows are a Canadian metal band formed in the Toronto area in 2006. Their sound combines the force of melodic death metal with the speed, harmonized guitars, and large choruses of power metal. Early releases Death, Power, Glory and Glory on the Battlefield established the band's battle-themed writing and fast, melodic approach. The group won the international Wacken Metal Battle in 2013, a result that led to a relationship with Napalm Records and the 2014 album Kings Among Men. After the 2020 EP The Resurrection, Crimson Shadows returned with Whispers of War in July 2025, their first full-length album in eleven years. The record features vocalist Jimi Maltais, guitarists Ryan Hofing and Greg Rounding, drummer Cory Hofing, and bassist and guitarist Alex Snape. Japanese label Avalon issued a CD and digital edition with a bonus track, while the band released the album through its artist-controlled Bandcamp catalog. Current official pages connect the same Spotify artist identifier, Bandcamp, YouTube, social channels, merchandise, and music videos. The Bandcamp page continues to identify Crimson Shadows as Toronto-based and lists upcoming Ontario performances in Ottawa and Brantford. Across three albums and three EPs documented by MusicBrainz, the band's catalog moves from independent beginnings through an international metal competition, label release, and active 2025 return. Current artist-controlled sources establish Crimson Shadows as an active Toronto band with a stable Canadian identity and a continuing live and recording presence.
