About
The artist
Daphni is the dancefloor-centric moniker of Canadian electronic visionary and composer Dan Snaith, who originally hails from Dundas in Hamilton, Ontario. Best known under his celebrated Caribou project—with which he won the 2008 Polaris Music Prize and earned multiple JUNO Awards—Snaith created Daphni as a spontaneous, club-rooted outlet for hypnotic polyrhythms, African funk samples, and raw techno grooves. Releases including JIAOLONG (2012), Joli Mai (2017), and Cherry (2022) on his own Jiaolong label have garnered critical acclaim from Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, and BBC Radio 1, solidifying Daphni as one of Canada's most respected underground electronic exports.
