About
The artist
Nanaimo-born guitarist and singer-songwriter David Gogo began working professionally as a teenager and established a solo career with his 1994 self-titled debut. His recordings range from electric blues-rock to stripped-back acoustic blues, with a catalog that includes Skeleton Key, Soul Bender, Come On Down, Vicksburg Call, Silver Cup, and the 2024 album YEAH!. For YEAH!, Gogo recorded at Ganaraska Recording Co. with producer Steve Marriner and musicians Jimmy Bowskill and Gary Craig, preserving a live studio feel through early takes. Across his career he has earned six JUNO nominations, three Maple Blues Awards for Guitarist of the Year, Western Canadian recognition, and the listener-voted Great Canadian Blues Award. His current official site continues to list British Columbia performances and identifies Nanaimo as his home base.
