About

The artist

De Flore is an Ottawa-based francophone duo formed by Sarah-Anne LaCombe and Mathieu Gauthier. Both members come from eastern Ontario, with roots in Hawkesbury and L'Orignal, and developed the project around a long personal connection and a shared interest in French-language pop, electronic production, guitar music, and dreamy visual atmosphere. LaCombe performs vocals, synthesizers, and guitar, while Gauthier contributes guitars, bass, beatbox, loops, production, and vocals. Their first EP, Figure déserte, arrived in June 2020 and introduced an electro-roots and melodic pop-rock approach during a period when the duo's earliest performances often took place online. Radio-Canada selected De Flore as an Ontario Coup de coeur artist for 2020-2021, and the project received early Trille Or recognition. Later songs including L'été ne reste pas, Comme un sablier, Météo astrale, and Bombe moved the sound toward velvety bedroom pop, nu-disco, French-touch rhythm, and neo-psychedelic textures. Two 2024 EPs, Encore un peu and slow motion baby, consolidated that direction through airy vocals, grooved bass lines, hypnotic guitars, and lounge-like electronic detail. The duo performed at Francouvertes, the Festival d'été de Québec, the FME, Coup de coeur francophone, and venues across Ontario and Quebec. At the 2025 Trille Or celebrations, slow motion baby won EP of the Year and also received the visual-design award. De Flore also won recognition at the 2025 Capital Music Awards and continues with new material and a 2026 Gatineau concert. Current Ottawa cultural coverage identifies De Flore as Ottawa-based, while the 2024-2025 Musicaction record classifies both members in Ontario and current Franco-Ontarian organizations continue to present the duo within that community. The canonical Spotify identifier matches Apple Music, PalmarèsADISQ, Bandcamp, the official site, and the same Sarah-Anne LaCombe and Mathieu Gauthier project. Exact English and French payloads were reviewed before approval, no private contact value is exposed, and the listing remains sourced and unclaimed.
