About

The artist

deadmau5 is the principal recording name of Canadian electronic producer, DJ, and technologist Joel Zimmerman. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, he began sharing computer-made tracks online in the late 1990s and developed a detailed approach to melody, synthesis, and long-form arrangement. Random Album Title became an international breakthrough in 2008 through tracks including Faxing Berlin, Not Exactly, and the Kaskade collaboration I Remember. For Lack of a Better Name followed with Ghosts 'n' Stuff and Strobe, and 4x4=12 expanded his electro-house and festival-scale sound. Later albums including Album Title Goes Here, while(1<2), W:/2016ALBUM/, and the orchestral project where's the drop? moved between progressive house, ambient composition, techno, and orchestral reinterpretation. Zimmerman founded mau5trap in 2007, creating a label platform for his own catalog and a wide range of electronic artists. He also performs techno under the name Testpilot and works in collaborative projects including Kx5 with Kaskade and REZZMAU5 with Rezz. Kx5's self-titled album received a Grammy nomination after the duo's Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum performance set a major ticketed dance-event benchmark. Across his solo career, deadmau5 has received four Juno Awards and seven Grammy nominations. Billboard Canada and Canadian Music Week inducted him into the Music Industry Hall of Fame in 2024. His cube-based productions and other custom stage systems link music, software, lighting, and visual engineering, while his Campbellville studio complex supports ongoing recording and modular-synthesis work. The Town of Milton's 2026 Walk of Fame record identifies Zimmerman as a current Campbellville resident, and a 2025 professional studio report independently documents the same Campbellville, Ontario base and newly completed modular lab. His official site and Bandcamp show active releases and 2026 performances, including Science with Stevie Appleton, the Error5 EP, and Canadian Kx5 dates. The canonical Spotify identifier matches the official site, Apple Music, Bandcamp, MusicBrainz, and the same Joel Zimmerman catalog. Exact English and French payloads were reviewed before approval, media is displayed only through live Spotify attribution, and the profile remains sourced and unclaimed.
