About

The artist

Dragonette is the electro-pop recording project of Toronto singer-songwriter Martina Sorbara. Formed as a band in 2005 with bassist and producer Dan Kurtz and drummer Joel Stouffer, Dragonette released an early self-titled EP before recording the debut album Galore in London. Fixin to Thrill, Bodyparts, and Royal Blues expanded the project's mix of pop, new wave, synth textures, rock energy, and dance-floor production. Dragonette reached an international audience through Hello, the collaboration with French producer Martin Solveig that won the 2012 JUNO Award for Dance Recording of the Year. After Kurtz and Stouffer left the group, Sorbara continued Dragonette as a solo project rather than presenting the current act as the former band lineup. Twennies marked that solo configuration in 2022, followed by a deluxe edition in 2023. In 2025, Dragonette and New York duo the Knocks released the collaborative album Revelation after their earlier work on Slow Song; the Paul Woolford remix of that track received a 2023 Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording. Dragonette remained active in 2026 through Revelation remixes, the single Honey with French Braids, live performances, and Sorbara's new trio Tiny Sun with Don Rooke and Jonathan Goldsmith. Current location evidence aligns on Toronto: an active 2026 industry biography describes Sorbara as Toronto-based and identifies her Toronto studio, Apple Music identifies Dragonette with Toronto, and independent 2026 coverage documents the locally developed Tiny Sun project and its Koerner Hall debut. Spotify, Apple Music, MusicBrainz, and the official site resolve to the same evolving project. Exact English and French payloads, including contact instructions, were reviewed before approval, only public professional routing is exposed, Spotify media remains live and provider-attributed, and the profile is sourced and unclaimed.
