About
The artist
Dumas is the stage name of Steve Dumas, a Montréal-based singer-songwriter, musician, producer, and screen composer originally from Victoriaville, Quebec. Active since 2001, he established a French-language catalog through his self-titled debut and Le cours des jours, then continued through releases including Fixer le temps, a sequence of five records made across 2008 and 2009, L'heure et l'endroit, Nos idéaux, and Cosmologie. His writing moves between indie rock, chanson, pop, and electronic production, while his live work is known for kinetic full-band performances and more intimate solo formats. Dumas has also written and produced for other performers and composed for film, television, and immersive projects. With Carl Bastien, he created the music for Les Aimants, which received both a Jutra for original music and a Félix for soundtrack album in 2005. That year Dumas also received the Félix for songwriter-performer show of the year for Dumas en solo. His recent work includes Cosmologie in 2023, a piano-and-voice version in 2025, and Marathon in September 2025. The current official site documents an active Piano voix diapos tour across Quebec through 2026 and 2027. Spotify, MusicBrainz, the official site, Bandcamp, La Tribu, and current venue programming resolve to the same Steve Dumas recording identity. Current geography is independently aligned: his official Bandcamp publishes Montréal, Québec; POP Montréal's current artist directory places DUMAS in Montréal, QC; La Tribu manages, releases, and publishes the project from Montréal; and current professional performances are anchored in the city and province. The official catalog and MusicBrainz provide 24 primary release groups across albums, EPs, singles, live recordings, and soundtracks, without treating every soundtrack or reissue as a studio album. Exact English and French payloads and contact instructions were reviewed before approval, only the official professional team page is used for inquiries, Spotify media remains provider-attributed, and the profile is sourced and unclaimed.
