About
The artist
Electric Religious is the musical vehicle of Métis singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and guitar virtuoso Brandon Baker, based in Edmonton, Alberta (Amiskwaciwâskahikan on Treaty 6 territory). Known for his expressive, overdrive-soaked guitar style and socially conscious songwriting, Baker emerged with the project's 2018 debut album Yeah, Yeah, No, earning a nomination for Best Pop Album at the Indigenous Music Awards. Baker expanded his sonic scope on the 2021 follow-up Tragic Lover and the 2024 album The Taste, fusing gritty garage rock and cosmic blues with lyrical themes of healing, heritage, and resilience. A regular on national festival stages and Indigenous showcases across Canada, Electric Religious is an influential voice in Alberta's contemporary rock community.
