About

The artist

Elizabeth Shepherd is a Montréal-based singer-songwriter, pianist, producer, and educator. Raised across Canada and France in a Salvation Army family, she studied classical piano before completing a jazz-piano degree at McGill University. Her debut album Start to Move arrived in 2006 and introduced a sound that joined jazz harmony and improvisation with soul, R&B, pop, hip-hop, and electronic rhythm. Parkdale, Heavy Falls the Night, Rewind, and The Signal extended that approach through songwriting, standards, and increasingly electronic production. After returning to Montréal, Shepherd created MONTREAL, a bilingual multimedia album built from interviews and found sounds gathered around the city. The project received a 2020 JUNO Award nomination for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year. In 2020 she formed the electronic-jazz songwriting duo ES:MO with guitarist Michael Occhipinti; their album The Weight of Hope received a 2022 JUNO nomination. Shepherd's seventh solo album, Three Things, followed in 2023, combining synth-based electronica, soul, gospel, and jazz with collaborators including Jasper Høiby and Lionel Loueke. Her wider credits include producing records for Andrea Superstein and Marie Goudy and performing as a guest vocalist and pianist across Canadian and international projects. A 2025 orchestral collaboration and current 2026 concert listings confirm ongoing activity, while her official biography notes an eighth solo-piano album in development. The exact Spotify, Apple Music, MusicBrainz, official-site, and Bandcamp identities resolve to the same artist. Current artist-controlled and professional sources consistently identify Montréal as her base. English and French copy and translation provenance were reviewed, the public inquiry route points to her official contact page, Spotify media is provider-attributed, and no private information is included.
