The artist

Émile Bourgault is a Montréal-based singer-songwriter from Quebec's South Shore. He began releasing music with the 2019 single Debout, followed by the EPs Bleu pâle in 2020 and Nous aurons toujours le ciel in 2021. His work moves between text-focused chanson and melodic pop, folk, and rock, with piano, guitar, and a close attention to phrasing. After reaching the Francouvertes final in 2022, Bourgault released the singles L'alinéa, Les aiguilles, and Ailleurs on the way to his first full album, Tant mieux, in April 2024. The album explores love and separation through contrasting dark and luminous arrangements; its credits identify Bourgault as principal writer and musician, with Félix Dyotte directing the recording and Sofia Duhaime among the collaborators. Tant mieux (pour toi) received the Hydro-Québec Song of the Year prize and became a finalist for the Prix collégial de la chanson.
