The artist

Émilis is a Laval-based instrumental duo formed by violinist Émilie Durocher de Grandpré and guitarist Louis Fortin. Both musicians came from classical backgrounds and began writing together during the spring 2020 lockdown. Their music pairs violin and guitar in concise, image-rich pieces that borrow from neoclassical composition and folk without relying on vocals. Early releases included Vent d'automne and the single Les premières fois, followed by the album Aube in September 2022. The duo continued with Fleuve, Moment, À vif, and the 2023 EP Instants.
