The artist

Flower Face is the recording and visual-art project of Montreal-based singer-songwriter and producer Ruby McKinnon. Raised in Windsor, Ontario, McKinnon began studying piano as a child and started writing and recording songs as a teenager. Early independent work established a bedroom-produced approach that connected piano, acoustic guitar, layered ambience, and diaristic writing. Fever Dreams arrived in 2017, followed by Baby Teeth in 2018. Her 2022 album The Shark in Your Water broadened the project's audience through songs including Spiracle, Cornflower Blue, and Maybe, while preserving its close, unsettled atmosphere. Girl Prometheus, released in November 2024, shifted toward a sharper blend of goth-folk, alternative rock, and dream pop. McKinnon also directed and developed visual material around that record, including videos for Cat's Cradle, Valentine, Skeleton Key, Maniac, If I Beg You, and Biblical Love. An instrumental companion, Girl Prometheus (Without Words), followed in December 2024.
