About
The artist
Francesco Yates is a Toronto singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. He began writing songs as a child, trained on piano and guitar, and signed a major-label deal while still in his teens. His first singles arrived in 2014, followed by a self-titled six-song EP in September 2015. Pharrell Williams and Robin Hannibal helped produce that release, which paired Yates's falsetto with pop, R&B, funk, and guitar-led arrangements. The same year, he sang and played guitar on Robin Schulz's Sugar, a collaboration that became an international streaming and radio hit. Yates later opened Canadian dates for Justin Timberlake and joined the Backstreet Boys on their North American tour. Releases including Superbad, Little Rockstar, and ROOMS I NEVER LEFT show his continuing shift toward self-directed independent production. The exact Spotify identity contains 43 distinct primary album and single containers from June 2014 through April 2026. Spotify classifies every container as a single, while seven multi-track releases are presented as EPs in their titles or on Apple Music; the normalized summary therefore counts seven EPs and 36 singles. GOD IN THE CLUB and PRAYER are the newest matching releases. The official 2026 website describes Yates as an independent artist taking direct control of his sound, while the exact Spotify profile confirms current activity and more than one billion streams for Sugar. Apple Music, Shazam, a current professional podcast profile, and the official site all connect the artist to Toronto; current 2025 Toronto performances corroborate ongoing local activity. Yates received the 2015 Canadian Radio Music Awards Heatseeker Award for Better To Be Loved and a 2016 JUNO nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
