The artist

François Jalbert is a Montreal guitarist, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist active across jazz, folk, bluegrass, and progressive music. He studied jazz performance at the Université de Montréal and composition and performance at McGill University after winning Montreal guitar competitions in 2006 and 2008. Jalbert co-leads Little Misty with vocalist Kathryn Samman, writing and producing music that combines progressive folk, indie rock, country, and bluegrass. He also maintains a long-running acoustic guitar-and-piano duo with Jérôme Beaulieu. Their albums This Is A Real Place and L'Aéronaute use minimalist instrumentation, detailed arrangements, and cinematic folk-jazz writing. The City of Montreal presented the duo in a multi-date L'Aéronaute series through December 2025, and the Conseil des arts de Montréal lists the project in its touring program through May 2026.
