About
The artist
Genetic Error is a crossover-thrash and hardcore-metal band from Trois-Rivières, Quebec. Bassist and vocalist André Lachance and guitarist Mario Prud'homme first played covers under earlier names before forming Genetic Error with drummer Marc-André Fortin in 1987. The group recorded the Toxic Planet demo in 1988 and In Search of Power! in 1989, played regional shows, and opened for acts including Voivod and Faith No More. Its first full-length recording, Superficial, appeared in 1995 before the original run ended. Genetic Error formally reformed for the 2015 Trois-Rivières Metalfest and continued as an active local band. A 2016 Tir Groupé edition brought the Toxic Planet material to vinyl and digital formats, and a self-titled archival collection followed in 2017. In 2024, the group played FestiVoix in Trois-Rivières and released the singles 29 and Life before issuing Fake World in December. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Francis Perron and represented Genetic Error's first full-length in almost three decades. The artist-controlled Bandcamp currently identifies the band in Trois-Rivières, sells the album on vinyl, CD, and digital formats, and provides its public professional contact route. A direct 2025 interview confirms continued writing and plans for further shows and studio work. A May 2026 event listing again bills Genetic Error as a Trois-Rivières thrash band, independently supporting current activity and location. The exact Spotify identity contains three primary provider containers: the six-track Toxic Planet container, classified by Spotify as a single, plus the 2024 singles 29 and Life. Fake World is available through the artist-controlled Bandcamp but not exposed as a primary Spotify container in Canada, so the profile states both facts rather than treating the Spotify view as a complete discography. The current trio documented around the album is André Lachance, Louis-Simon Bellerose, and Patrick Béliveau. The band's 2025 direct interview reports music-video nominations at the Meta Morph AI Film Award and Nubes Music Video Awards. Professional messages are routed through Bandcamp without republishing direct contact details, and Spotify media is rendered with provider attribution.
