About
The artist
Half Moon Run is a Montréal indie-rock band formed by Devon Portielje, Conner Molander, and Dylan Phillips in 2009. The trio developed its early songs in Mile End rehearsal spaces, sharing instruments and building arrangements around layered percussion, shifting instrumental roles, and three-part vocal harmonies. Dark Eyes arrived in 2012 and introduced the band internationally through songs including Full Circle. Sun Leads Me On followed in 2015, while A Blemish in the Great Light reached number three on the Canadian albums chart and won the 2020 JUNO Award for Adult Alternative Album of the Year. After the departure of former fourth member Isaac Symonds, the founding trio continued with Inwards & Onwards and the 2023 album Salt, much of which was developed at Treehouse Studio north of Montréal. The group remained active through 2025 with the multi-track releases Back on the Road, The Message, Another Woman, and Shadows of Night for the Netflix series The Witcher. The exact Spotify identity contains 26 primary album and single containers from March 2012 through October 2025: five albums and 21 singles. Several items classed as singles contain multiple tracks, so the count represents provider containers rather than a work-level discography. The current official biography says the band has called Montréal home since 2009, and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal independently identified Half Moon Run as a Montréal band for three May 2025 performances.
