The artist

HILOTRONS is an experimental pop band based in Ottawa, Ontario and active since 2001. The project developed around composer, performer, and producer Michael Dubue, with collaborators changing across recordings and live configurations. Early releases moved from the self-titled 2003 record through Bella Simone and the electronic energy of Happymatic. Happymatic appeared on the official 2008 Polaris Music Prize Long List. Later albums At Least There's Commotion and To Trip With Terpsichore expanded the band's palette through psychedelic pop, film music, surf guitar, jazz, and live-off-the-floor recording. Lonely Cinema arrived in 2020, followed by a second six-track volume and a sequence of singles. The 2023 Camryn release was composed, performed, recorded, and mixed by Dubue, with Philip Shaw Bova, Olivier Fairfield, and other Ottawa collaborators contributing to the sessions. Weight of Truth followed in May 2024, featuring Michael Feuerstack on pedal steel and recording work by Jim Bryson, Dubue, and Bova. The exact Spotify identity contains 13 distinct primary album and single containers from January 2006 through May 2024: five albums and eight provider-classified singles. Multi-track releases remain in Spotify's supplied category rather than being silently reclassified. Apple Music corroborates the same Ottawa identity, 2001 formation, catalog, and rock classification.
