About

The artist

Intervals is the progressive instrumental project of Toronto guitarist and composer Aaron Marshall. Founded in 2011, the project began with the independently produced EP The Space Between and expanded through In Time before moving into a full-band vocal format for A Voice Within in 2014. Marshall returned Intervals to an instrumental focus with The Shape of Colour in 2015 and remained the project's sole official member while working with changing studio and touring musicians. The Way Forward, Circadian, and memory palace developed a melodic approach that moves between progressive metal, fusion, math rock, funk, and electronic production without losing the guitar as its central voice. The exact Spotify identity contains 19 primary album and single containers from December 2011 through the 2025 versions of DIVIDE. The 2024 album memory palace received a 2025 JUNO Award nomination for Instrumental Album of the Year. Current official touring listings document Intervals performances through 2026, including a Toronto date, while artist-operated Bandcamp, Apple Music, and professional presenter sources consistently identify the project with Toronto, Ontario.
