The artist

Jade Turner is a country and Americana singer-songwriter from Misipawistik Cree Nation in northern Manitoba. Raised in a community grounded in oral storytelling, she writes songs that move between difficult personal subjects, Indigenous ways of knowing, resilience, and sharp humour. Her catalog includes North Country, the self-titled Jade Turner, and the 2025 album Breathe. The Crystal Shawanda collaboration Deadweight won Song of the Year and Single of the Year at the 2023 Manitoba Country Music Awards. Turner was a 2024 SiriusXM Top of the Country semifinalist, received Manitoba songwriting honours, and earned a 2025 Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Country Artist of the Year.
