The artist

Jazz Cartier is the performing name of Toronto rapper and songwriter Jahmarie Adams, also known as Jacuzzi LaFleur. Born in Toronto, he spent parts of his childhood in several countries because of his stepfather's diplomatic work, then returned to the city and developed his music within its emerging rap community. Early work with producer Lantz helped shape a sound built from forceful delivery, trap percussion, atmospheric electronics, melodic hooks, and dramatic live energy. Marauding in Paradise arrived in 2015 and placed Cartier on the Polaris Music Prize Long List.
