The artist

Jjanice+ is the artist project of Montreal singer-songwriter, vocalist, and spoken-word poet Joel Janis. Active since 1999, he developed a hybrid-soul language that combines modern soul, new wave, indie rock, electropop, sung poetry, and Afro-Caribbean influences. His current official site describes the project as Hybrid Soul, while current representative Pasa Musik notes his Haitian origins, Quebec upbringing, and more than 15 years with the Montreal multidisciplinary collective Kalmunity.
