The artist

JOLY is the solo project of Marc-Antoine Joly, a Franco-Ontarian singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Carlsbad Springs, Ontario. Originally from Hawkesbury, Joly builds French-language songs from folk arrangements, rock dynamics, grunge texture, and emotionally direct writing. His artist-operated website also documents work with The Great Diversion and session performances for Céleste Lévis, Les Rats d’Swompe, Le Groupe Swing, and Gabrielle Goulet. The project’s exact Spotify identity contains six primary release containers from May 2017 through March 2023: one album, one EP, and four singles. The five-song EP Au plus bas introduced the project in 2017, followed by the singles Cercle vicieux, Peur, Tu t’en fous, and Lourd. The fourteen-song album DEUIL arrived through Joly Records in March 2023. Joly’s official biography credits him with producing and recording Céleste Lévis’s albums Noël tout autour and Si tu veux tout savoir, while his own recording studio supports ongoing production and collaboration work. DEUIL won Album of the Year at the 2024 Capital Music Awards. In 2025, JOLY received Trille Or awards in Rock/Metal/Punk, production and arrangements, and sound recording and mixing, the last shared with Simon Joly. Réseau Ontario’s 2026 professional repertoire lists the touring show Évade-toi with Simon Joly and Patrick Harrison and places JOLY Records in Carlsbad Springs. A July 2026 Ottawa Bluesfest appearance confirms current performance activity.
