About

The artist

Kevin Drew is a Toronto, Ontario singer, songwriter, producer, composer, and co-founder of Broken Social Scene. Drew and Brendan Canning began building the collective in 1999 after Drew had recorded with Charles Spearin as K.C. Accidental. Broken Social Scene grew from a Toronto basement project into a large, changing ensemble whose recordings and concerts helped define Canadian indie rock in the 2000s. Drew also co-founded Arts & Crafts, the independent label that released the band's early work and remains the home of his solo catalog. Spirit If... opened that catalog in 2007 with a large cast of Broken Social Scene collaborators. Darlings followed in 2014 with more direct guitar and vocal arrangements. In 2021, Drew used the K.D.A.P. name for Influences, an instrumental record built from electronic rhythm, sampling, and ambient texture. Aging arrived in 2023 as an eight-song set centred on piano, synthesizer, grief, endurance, and the passage of time. The exact Spotify identity currently contains four primary album containers from September 2007 through November 2023. Three are billed to Kevin Drew, while Influences is co-billed to K.D.A.P. and Kevin Drew, which explains why Arts & Crafts describes Aging as his third conventional solo album. Drew's work also extends beyond his own records. Official Arts & Crafts materials credit him as a co-producer of Andy Kim's It's Decided and The Belle Game's Fear/Nothing. SOCAN documents his co-production work on The Tragically Hip's Man Machine Poem and Gord Downie's Secret Path, as well as his score for the documentary The Movie Man. MusiCounts presented him with its Inspired Minds Ambassador Award in 2023 for his contribution to music education. He remains professionally active through Broken Social Scene, whose current Arts & Crafts page lists 2026 performances, and through the 2026 SiriusXM Canada series Everything Is Broken with Kevin Drew. Apple Music, Arts & Crafts, and current industry materials continue to identify Toronto and Ontario as his professional base.
