About
The artist
Kon Kan is a Toronto synth-pop and electronic dance project created by Barry Harris in 1988. Harris wrote, produced, and performed the project’s international breakthrough I Beg Your Pardon (I Never Promised You a Rose Garden), which appeared on the 1989 album Move to Move and won the 1990 JUNO Award for Best Dance Recording. Syntonic followed in 1990 and Vida! in 1993, carrying the project through synth-pop, new wave, Hi-NRG, and club production. The project later returned to active release work, including Stars in 2023 and new versions of Sinful Wishes in 2023 and 2024. In 2026 Harris repositioned the current artist lane as Barry Harris' Kon Kan. The eleven-song album of that name arrived on June 30, 2026 after the singles My Medication, Not This One, Welcome To My Head, and Where The River Runs. Current official credits identify Harris across vocals, keyboards, guitar, composition, production, engineering, and executive production, with collaborators including Christopher Cox, Bryan Harris, Bob Mitchell, Kimberley Wetmore, and Simone Denny. The exact Spotify identity contains fourteen primary album and single containers from May 1989 through June 2026, normalized as four albums and ten provider-classified singles. Apple Music independently connects the same catalog, identifies Toronto as the project’s home, and carries first-person notes from Harris about writing and producing the early records. MusicBrainz and Wikidata connect the exact Spotify identity, official site, and public identifiers. The current official site identifies Harris as based in Toronto, presents Kon Kan as his active flagship artist identity, and provides a public licensing route. MusicList links to that route without republishing the direct email address. Spotify media is displayed live with provider attribution and a monogram fallback.
