About

The artist

Les sœurs Boulay are the Montréal-based duo of sisters Mélanie and Stéphanie Boulay, originally from New Richmond in the Gaspésie region of Quebec. They write and sing in French, pairing two-part harmony with guitar, ukulele, piano, folk and country foundations, and later pop and electronic arrangements. Their professional career took shape after they won the 2012 Francouvertes. Le poids des confettis followed in March 2013 and received Félix awards for Revelation of the Year and Folk Album of the Year. The duo later won Group of the Year in 2014, Folk Album of the Year for 4488 de l’Amour in 2016, and Group of the Year again in 2017. La mort des étoiles arrived in September 2019 with co-production and arrangements credited to the duo and Alex McMahon. Échapper à la nuit followed through Simone Records in October 2022. Its twelve songs were co-produced and arranged by Les sœurs Boulay and Connor Seidel, extending their acoustic writing with denser pop textures and electronic detail. The exact Spotify identity contains eighteen principal album and single containers in the Canadian market from March 2013 through August 2024. Spotify classifies four as albums and fourteen as singles. Apple Music identifies the four-song Lendemains as an EP, so MusicList normalizes the same eighteen containers as four albums, one EP, and thirteen singles while preserving the provider difference. Representative releases are Un million de raisons, Échapper à la nuit, La mort des étoiles, 4488 de l’Amour, and Le poids des confettis. The latest verified release, Un million de raisons, appeared in August 2024 under licence to Simone Records, with Mélanie and Stéphanie credited for vocals and instruments and Alexandre Martel for production. The current Simone Records page lists Agence Hôtel Particulier for management and Ensemble Concerts for live booking. Current activity includes a 2026 acoustic concert series with longtime collaborator Elliot Maginot, including an official July date presented by the City of Boucherville and later Quebec performances. The artist-controlled Bandcamp profile identifies Montréal, Quebec and links the official website, while the official site connects the exact Bandcamp, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook identities. Professional inquiries route through the official contact section without republishing the direct email address displayed there. Spotify media is rendered live with provider attribution and a monogram fallback.
