The artist

Lido Pimienta is a Colombian Canadian multidisciplinary artist, composer, singer, and producer based in Toronto. Her recording practice combines electrocumbia, Latin alternative music, experimental pop, chamber composition, and Afro-Indigenous Colombian rhythmic traditions. The independent album La Papessa won the 2017 Polaris Music Prize, becoming the first Spanish-language album to receive the award. Miss Colombia followed in 2020 and received nominations for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards and Best Alternative Music Album at the 2020 Latin Grammy Awards.
