About
The artist
Matt Mays is a rock singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer professionally anchored in Halifax, Nova Scotia through current management and label relationships with Sonic Entertainment Group and Sonic Records. After leaving the alt-country group The Guthries in 2002, he moved between solo recordings and the band project Matt Mays & El Torpedo. His self-titled solo album arrived in 2003, followed by Matt Mays & El Torpedo in 2005, the soundtrack project When the Angels Make Contact in 2006, and Terminal Romance in 2008. Coyote won Rock Album of the Year at the 2014 JUNO Awards. Later releases include Once Upon a Hell of a Time..., its companion Twice Upon a Hell of a Time..., and Dog City, which an official Sonic biography directly identifies as an album Mays produced in his garage studio. That direct credit supports his record-production classification without inferring engineering, mixing, or mastering work. The exact Spotify identity 0VlFTYaJsPHdN3Vb3EvBsn contains fifteen principal album and single containers available in Canada: nine albums and six singles. They span the 2003 self-titled album through the December 2021 single Christmas Eve Day. The matching Apple Music identity 409141419 and the artist-controlled Bandcamp page independently connect the same catalog and identity. The Spotify count is a provider-visible catalog summary, not a claim that every career release or appearance is represented. Current activity is documented by the artist's official 2026 tour calendar and three August 2026 Nova Scotia performances with Joel Plaskett Emergency and Terra Lightfoot promoted by Sonic Concerts. Halifax is used as a current public professional anchor based on his active Halifax management and label relationships and continuing Nova Scotia work, not as a claim about a private residence. Professional inquiries route through the official artist contact page. MusicList does not reproduce the direct names, email addresses, telephone numbers, or business addresses shown there. Spotify media is displayed only through the provider-attributed live route with a monogram fallback.
