About
The artist
Metric is an indie rock band professionally based in Toronto, Ontario. Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw formed the project in 1998, and the long-standing lineup also includes Joshua Winstead and Joules Scott-Key. The active 2026 Live Nation biography identifies Haines on vocals and keys, Shaw as producer and performer on guitar and keys, Winstead on bass and keys, and Scott-Key on drums. That announcement closes the All the Feelings tour with a Toronto homecoming show. Metric's current Bandsintown artist profile independently calls the group a Toronto outfit, lists Toronto as its hometown, and carries current 2026 artist posts and performances. Current Apple Music editorial also identifies Toronto as the band's origin and matches the same catalog and lineup history. Metric developed its sound through synthesizers, guitars, direct rhythms, and Haines's clear melodic writing. Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? introduced the band's first widely released album cycle, followed by Live It Out, Fantasies, Synthetica, Pagans in Vegas, Art of Doubt, Formentera, and Formentera II. The group retained control of its work through Metric Music International rather than building its career around a major-label deal. Its 2026 tenth studio album, Romanticize The Dive, arrived through Metric Music International and Thirty Tigers after sessions involving Electric Lady Studios in New York and the band's Toronto studio. The exact Spotify identity 1rCIEwPp5OnXW0ornlSsRl contains 41 principal album and single containers available in the Canadian market from June 2004 through April 24, 2026. Spotify classifies 12 as albums and 29 as singles. The album total includes both standard and deluxe editions of Synthetica, while several single containers include multiple tracks. These counts therefore describe provider containers rather than a work-level discography. Representative releases are Romanticize The Dive, Formentera II, Formentera, Synthetica, and Fantasies. Apple Music artist 4125821 independently matches the identity, Toronto association, current album, and two Alternative Album of the Year wins at the JUNO Awards. The current Live Nation biography also documents Metric's Canadian Screen Award for the Cosmopolis score with Howard Shore and the band's continuing creative relationships with Broken Social Scene. Jimmy Shaw's production work is retained as a member credit and relationship. It is not converted into a producer classification for Metric as a band. Professional inquiries route through the official Metric website without reproducing direct contact details. Spotify media is displayed live with provider attribution and a monogram fallback.
