About
The artist
Monsune is the recording project of Chinese-Canadian singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Scott Zhang, based in Toronto, Ontario. Combining warm vintage soul samples, modern Prince-infused falsetto, and sophisticated bedroom pop orchestration, Zhang caught global attention in 2017 with his self-produced breakout track Nothing in Return followed by the viral sensation OUTTA MY MIND. His 2019 debut EP Tradition earned widespread acclaim across tastemaker outlets including The FADER, Complex, and Ones To Watch. Working with painstaking independence in Toronto, Monsune has built a passionate international following while remaining an enigmatic gem of Canada's indie soul scene.
