About
The artist
Naina Jinga is a Canadian-Romanian composer, pianist, producer, and music teacher based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, she began piano at age four and wrote her first compositions at twelve. She completed her music degree at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in 1991, then worked there as an assistant professor and university lecturer while completing graduate and doctoral studies in composition. Jinga moved to Canada in 2003 and continued graduate composition studies at Western Ontario before establishing her professional and teaching practice in Winnipeg. Her catalog includes instrumental, vocal, choral, chamber, orchestral, and educational music, with performances in Canada, Europe, the United States, and Australia. More recent recordings emphasize romantic solo piano, light classical writing, and accessible contemporary classical music. Jinga performed, produced, and published the fourteen-track album Piano Dreams in 2019.
