About
The artist
Nap Eyes is a Canadian indie-rock band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, formed in 2011 around songwriter and guitarist Nigel Chapman. Their music pairs arch, stream-of-consciousness lyric writing with a pleasing lo-fi jangle and a band sound shaped by Brad Loughead, Josh Salter and Seamus Dalton. After the albums Whine of the Mystic, Thought Rock Fish Scale, I'm Bad Now and Snapshot of a Beginner, Nap Eyes returned with 2024's The Neon Gate, a nine-song record that stretches their guitar-led sound toward nonlinear abstraction, long-form improvisation and poetic narrative.
